I have done fairly well learning by reading/following directions of everyone here, but, I admit, I am just a dumb noob who didnt read carefully enough, thought i knew more than i do, and for that i have from what i can tell a 100% bricked xt912 after trying to do the JB update. It happened this morning and i just now have the time to post, so my memory of exactly what and where is not crisp.  I realize that may seal my fate, and i will accept that. I was bouncing between the matt's post using the 1.82 utility and the 1.9 trying to see where it mattered which one i used. I was on the ICS, switched to stock side of safestrap, uninstalled it, and did a factory reset including a total internal storage data wipe. All seemed well until i noticed a couple of lines saying fail, then, install aborted message when installing the JB update. I did as directed, wiping caches and all prior to attempt. After first fail I found a couple of Titanium backup files i missed on my sd-ext, and erased them.  Phone still made calls and all at this point.  Then when i tried again, got the same message, so pulled micro sd out and put another one in with just the update zip on it thinking something in my card was causing the problem.  The next time around the phone went off never to be heard from again, no white light, no logos, no response when plugged into computer by phone or computer, nothing at wall charger, total blackness! PLEASE if there is something i can do tell me and i swear to be a better reader/listener/attention to details dude, thx in advance

The biggest question is..... at the beginning of all this..... how was your battery ..... it sounds to me like the battery is totally drained.....

The only other thing I can think is to try and get or make a "factory programming cable" and try it..... if that fails.... then chances are you have a hardware failure:(

factory programming cable?  i had to do some redneck engineering before and cut end off cable to "jump start" battery, but this cable u speak of, u said make or buy, i choose make... will google it and see what it takes... what might i be able to do with it if it works?

side note:  i am eligible for upgrade, other than the obvious top tier phones, any suggestions on model to look at?

It is a cable that allows programming I.e. flashing when a battery is dead (or gone) ..... it powers the main board in the phone directly.......our good friend Google has a wealth of info on building one..... there is also good info here ...

As far as your upgrade ...... i know you said "not top tier" but....IMO I wouldn't get anything but a bionic , droid 4 , or something from the RAZR family.....

Factory programming cable or adapter will allow you to get a charge if the other suggestions dont work.

Get the adapter here:

Thank all of u for taking time from your own... stuff to try and help me, I don't have as much time as I used to because of my job so I am calking it, time of death, well when I stopped paying attention. That plus got a great deal from a dude on a brand new RAZR M. After this post I am DL Matt's utility for it and I promise to read and obey better, anyone need a nice paper weight?

You're quite welcome.... that's what we are here for ;)

I'd be happy to take that "paperweight" off your hands :) ;)
