Thanks for the info but how do I know which ones are the backup?

Your backups that you create (In ss) are in TRWP/backups either on external or internal (whichever you tell it to use)

But which files specifically are you talking about ss saving ?

Can someone help

I'm running the JB OTA leak and want to install Safestrap 3.*
the instructions say to install the APK file
when I click on the links all I download are zip files Safestrap-RAZR-D4-BIO-3.11.zip

Am I missing something

I have been using the older versions of Safestrap with great success and flashed many ICS ROMs

I'm lost.......

Your Zip program must be hijacking the apk and calling it a zip file. Just change the .zip to .apk and it should work fine. That's really all an apk is anyway is a glorified zip file

Love the recovery, but I updated to SS3.11 hoping to fix this issue, and I still can't access the external sd through recovery either. Any other ideas how to fix?

hdr,

toggle thru- i.e. if you are in the Reseore screen w/the internal sd card chosen, switch to external or vice-versa & then in eit_er case go back & you should now see the recovery file listed

One thing I don't quite understand is sometimes I cannot access the contents of a certain unless choosing to go up directories than navigate into the proper sd by selecting it. In other words, if I want to flash something from my internal sd than I can't just select the bubble at the top to switch directories to find it because the folder will be empty. If I want the contents to show, I have to select the external sd card click up directories until the option to select /sdcard is shown and than navigate through the internal sd card while the external sd card bubble is selected at the top. I haven't checked into or done any trouble shooting yet Cruz I mainly stick with using the ext SD. I think it has to do with ss setting the ext SD as both the internal and external sd while phone is bootd up. Maybe it's not set up that way in recovery. I'll check into eventually (i think) but you might want to try that to view the contents of the sdcard you're trying to connect to. Worth a shot.

P.s. what happened to the battery percentage in recovery? (To go with that, does it still charge when connected to power in ss recovery 3.11) I used to have that in 3.05

hth,

Sorry don't think I was clear. I can't toggle to external sd at all and manually navigating to the folder finds nothing. Curious if there was a fix yet. Thanks for the help though.

Sounds like you made you're backup while you had root protected by voodoo. That backup will not restore as it cannot overwrite the protected root and silently fails. If you do not have a backup without root protected, I have a copy of my stock system backup. If you need it let me know and I'll give you the link.

Don't wipe anything. You must have your original backup, and be able to get into safestrap 3.x. This is a backup of my stock system partition only. You should move the system file out of the original backup directory and replace it with this one, then do a normal restore.

This may sound uninformed, forgive me, I haven't read this whole thread, but basically I installed Arctic HD on a Droid Razr MAXX with ICS 4.0.4, now have Safestrap 3.11 on the device. I assume that JB is out there and can be installed on the MAXX, so I assume I have to:

1. Uninstall SS 3.11 and go back to 2X version.

2. Install original pre-ICS ROM that was on the phone.

3. Do an OTA update to Jelly Bean or install the Operating System from another source.

4. Root the phone again so that

5. I can install custom JB ROMs from you guys!

Does anyone have a simple, step by step guide to accomplish all of the above?

Thanks so much!

You can't root jb yet, and your have to download jb update and manually install it as it won't show on phone because update was pulled. Use maths utility 1.82 option 1 to put you on stock ICS 211, than use the utility to root ICS and download voodoo ota root keeper from play store, and protect root than delegate protected copy and than protect root again. Make sure su is up to days on the binary. Its in su settings clock check for binary update and update it(crucial). Temp umroot from voodoo, reboot into stock recovery and flash the job update you downloaded. There are lots of guides in forums for this. I'm driving and using a phone to write this or it'd be Kore detailed
