The same scent of freshly burned kinnikinnick wafted through the canyon just as it did in the days of old. Oh what I wouldn’t have done for a single taste of the Native American herbal blend at this very moment to calm my nerves.
Just why exactly WAS I here completely decked out in mountain climbing gear AGAIN.
Memories of the near heat exhaustion I suffered during my last encounter with the canyon were still quite fresh in my mind.
This intimidated me.
This made me want to turn tail and lay out on the boat to the island of Captiva with my feet kicked up and a kamikaze in my drinking hand.
Just as quickly, the feeling I had when I’d finally gotten my hands on the cartographic code discovered in the Isis Temple area of the Grand Canyon flooded my short term vision.
This also made me want to find the bartender but, now I only needed him AFTER the task at hand was completed.
I had a new prize in my sights today and a fully capable companion along for the ride.
The app that we rely on most to get us from point A to point B, is doing even more to improve the experience that we have come to love. As if the constant barrage of updates and improvement’s isn’t already enough, Google is now sending it’s Street View cameras off the beaten path and deep into the treacherous trails of the Grand Canyon.
Hauling the new “TREKKER” system on my back was a little awkward at first but, after a couple of minutes I noticed that the strain I was initially suffering with had completely disappeared. Yes, I am every bit as suave and well-built as you would imagine but this thing was just weird to have protruding from your back.
Luckily, It came with Personnel Adaptive Straps that allowed the shoulder harness to actually remove the burden of balancing the rig and the weight itself, from the wearer.
Awesome.
