Okay, maybe I'm missing something here. If we can't roll back once we go to JB, then how can we "reset" the system to take the "official" OTA update when they finally release it? I guess (from my earlier comment) that they will HAVE to put out something to go from this version (since it was rolled out OTA to a bunch of users already), but you never know what they will end up doing, I guess.

He makes a good point, I was thinking about that myself. Back when ICS was rolling out in varying different versions, how did everyone get back on track for the OTA version that was deemed the "final"?

Anyone that already has JB installed, can you please give a Pro's and Con's of what you have experienced so far? Battery, Camera, Smoothness (Project Butter), Google Now, etc...

Camera: Much better than ICS, launches fast and takes better pictures.

Battery: IDK

Smoothness: Supreme, very little lag.

Reception: Not as good as .211 ICS.

Google Now: Works just as it should.

Theming/AOSP: Much more AOSP looking/ much better looking than ICS blur.

Less Bloatware than stock .211

is it me or is Chrome much better on JB?

it's more than worth it I think.

awesome, I think I'm gonna do it! One last thing, once downloaded, I know I need to move it to the root of my SD Card, but does it need to be renamed update.zip? or leave it Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip? The original post does not specify.

I didn't rename it and it flashed over just fine. Before I downloaded it in made sure to delete the .215 update though, because I didn't want to mix them up due to similar names.

If you go to motorola recovery, you pick the .zip. I did not rename mine.

I was rooted, SuperSU, stock, no SS3. I used rootkeeper and did the strange repeat sequence, then rebooted into motorola recovery, selected the OTA, and let it go. After reboot, rootkeeper did it's job perfectly, and I'm up and running on JB!

Thanks, all!

Jim

I would agree with everything here, with the exception of reception. I haven't noticed much of a difference yet, although I'm in a pretty good reception area. I also noticed that chrome seems much more fluid and less laggy, but i wasn't sure if it really better or just placebo effect. Haha. So far I'm digging it and not regretting a thing

Quick Question before I dive in, I understand that once JB is completely installed, that there is no way to go back to ICS, but if something were to happen that would give me an error or stop the installation process of JB, will the Razr Utility 1.82 get me back to ICS? Basically, I'm worried that something will happen, and I will get stuck with nothing, neither JB or ICS, like a bootloop or such.

The moment it starts writing it's basically impossible to go back to ICS. The part that's unrecoverable is kinda one of the first things written from my understanding.

If you get an error mid-install and it doesn't brick your phone (still able to get into AP fastboot) you can always fastboot back to .211 (it won't boot past moto logo) and retry the update again.

For anyone wondering, JB runs tons smoother than ICS... It's really noticeable.

Everything so far seems to be an improvement. The camera seems to be much better than the terrible ICS camera was.

My experience, FWIW-

I was able to accept and fully download the OTA update yesterday. I applied the update today without problems and am now on 4.1.2. Was previously rooted and did a temporary unroot before applying update.

BUT

--I don't notice any performance or battery improvements at all with jellybean.
--I lost the weather app/widget and world clock widget from ICS, both of which I liked and used (can I get them back somehow?).
--Lockscreen font is different. No big deal.
--Boot sequence volume got cranked up big time. Not happy.
--Have to access alarm through clock. Not happy.
--New apps- Chrome, Play Magazine.
--New widget- Drive
--New icon for Calculator (I liked the ICS icon better).
--There are no other significant enhancements that I can see.

Reapplied root. SU says I'm rooted and it seems like I am but I can't change file/folder permissions? I can do most other root functions without issue.

Bottom line- I wish I hadn't taken the update. Wasted a bunch of the Christmas holiday messing with this.
