Do you have 1.6 final? I think there was a before and after 8485 bricks..or for some reason the boot patch isnt flashing right.or you have incorrect 181 files on sd..sorry i couldnt be more help. But you should be on 206 if you have workn correct file completely unziped..it works so something isnt workn for it..bad file missen drivers ect. R u running more then just the utility on your pc at same time? Which pc os? Ect.?

lol im worried.. dont flash ur phone tonight bro..unless its. 75.79 ics leaks...if you dont know what we are dealing with ur best bet is ti stay away from any of the leaks stated in this op..ive gotta go or i would explain...but save ur phone and urself and steer away from these leaks until more aware..

Step 1. Dl 206
Step 2. Fastboot 181.
Step 3. Fastboot the 206 boot.img <--- where is this at??? and am i going into AP fastboot to do this or using rsd?
Step 4. Boot into recovery.
Step 5. Flash 206 from external sd card
Step 6. Boot up and enable usb debugging
Step 7. Boot into ap fastboot mode
Step 8 flash 85 boot.img
Step 9 boot using bp tools
Step 10 use ics root
Step 11 flash 206 boot.img
Step 12 profit

EDIT: Never Mind I finally did it.... now to make my own motorola factory cable to see if i can get back a bricked razr from low power death. <-- on hold until tomorrow.
So I need to go to 85 to root then go back to 206? making sure here...

Success. Pay Dirt. Cha Ching. Now thats an awesome relief. for a minute there i thought i was going to be done quick but i realized none of the root apps were working then i saw the fine print.... 1.6 cannot root 4.04. then i followed the rest of the steps.. which i had to reboot several times to make sure it went through correctly like flashing boot img.

thanks matt and everyone who replied for the assist. i love learning new things. now for that bionic ics leak... oh where art thou ics for thy bionic.

im on 6.11.903 can i use the utility to go straight to 206 with root???

uhm no. Go to 181 first if you "must" go to 206. The processes are different going from gb and from being stuck on a leak

Well everything worked out great i am now on .206 but without root! flashing .85 boot.img , booting into BP tools , using the ICS root method in Matts Utility 1.6 did not reroot my Razr. Went ahead and reflashed .206 boot.img and booted up normally. i guess i'll just have to wait for a root method later! At least im not stuck on .84 anymore! LOL

I have 4 Employee Razr Maxx's...installing on 2 of 4 so far works great! Thanks for all your hard work guys!!! It is a little pecuilar how the soft reset option means you take a screenshot. It's not even remotely a big deal, just an interesting button combo choice.

I work for a call center as a technical support coordinator. I am about to leave Verizon and everyone on my account went ahead and used their upgrade so it would be reset at 10 months instead of 2 years. Trust me, I want the Razr HD. I just wasn't going to gamble waiting and like you said...good price including the free hd dock.

Step 9 is the one i was having issues with. Booting into BP tool kept giving me errors on step 10 , permissions denied , busy box superuser failed yada yada yada . lol I booted up normally not into BP tools and it rooted perfectly ! lol TY for all the hard work guys !!!!!
