Custom Animated GIF icons?

Hey everyone!

 

Any developers who can provide insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

 

I am a graphic designer and I'm obsessed with tinkering and customizing my Droid RAZR M.  What I'm trying to find out is if it is possible to use animated gifs as custom icons.  I have not been able to find info on this particular issue.  I am using NEXT launcher and I figured since it uses its own animated icons than it would be plausable that I could custom design my own.

Maybe contact them stating you want to create a theme for their launcher and see if they have more info for you
