I am not familiar with that recovery.. Does it use busybox?

If you desire not to flash - Extract the bootanimation.zip from the flash zip and copy/paste to either: system/media or data/local.

I was thinking more along the lines of exactly the same

Except instead of an alien head fading in, as would be expected with the eyes.... it'd be an android head

Though that one is nice.
