No. The thread is gone for the moment. Leave it at that and see what happens.

Whole lot of fun going on, eh?

So, I might have another user to send here from AF, Sam. She's had GPS issues since the upgrade, as well as massive battery drain only while on WiFi. Will let you know.

Not sure what I can do for them but we'll try. My battery is screwed. It's not fully charging anymore. I may have to toss my spare in there. Things don't last forever.

Well, her GPS showing that she is in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, when on GB it worked perfectly, indicates to me that she is having a software issue, not a hardware issue. Particularly if she uses some GPS apps and it brings it back in line, only to have it go off target once again after not having used the apps for a while.

Also, she is on a Mac - your *nix HoB work on Macs? Since she just told us tat, I'm hoping it does - b/c I only have Win utilities....

Her battery issue may be a non issue - she mentioned that for the first hour it drained a lot, but then it seemed to not drain at all - which to me suggests that she has an app that synchronizes (files / pics / etc.) while only on WiFi, and that she may, in fact, not have used WiFi overly long b/c it drained so quickly initially that she turns it off. I'll know more as I get more info. It might turn out that her phone is working exactly as she has it set up, and she has simply forgotten things like that.

Yes, the HoB does work on the Mac. I've not updated the Linux version in a while so it lacks some of the refinements of the Windows version. Setting it up, for example, isn't as simple. But, the FXZ Keep Data option seems like it'd be a useful thing to try. It's not too hard to set up. Gotta grab the Linux/Mac HoB archive, extract it to a folder, then create a 246_FXZ dir and extract the FXZ files to the ROOT of the 246_FXZ folder. No sub-folders. Then make the ./HouseOfBionic.sh file executable and run it. In theory, it should work.

Crap She said she's had her Mac for 5-6 years but never even made a folder before. She's most definitely not technically oriented. This may take some work to get her through, assuming she actually needs to perform a clean install. She may not, if what I surmise about her battery is true.

Yea, there's no way to make an "easy install" like we have for Windows on a mac or linux cause they're all so different. I just make a tarball of the HoB itself, then you have to create the 246_FXZ folder in it and extract the files into it. I want to provide the same kind of functionality that I have on Windows but I haven't had a chance to work on the linux version. With Windows you just stick the FXZ zip in the 246_FXZ dir and the script detects it and does the rest. I'll get to it at some point but there's a lot that has to be added to the linux version and I need a solid couple of hours to do it.

Just have to share this. The 1954 version of Creature From the Black Lagoon is on TCM right now. I was in 9th grade and took a girl to the movie. Richard Carlson, Richard Denning and Julia Adams in what was at that time a really great pair of short shorts. Aaahhh! the good old days. Nothing computer generated, just funky costumes.

Matt and I discussed this tonight, and we feel this should be added to the HoB:

I will work on this when I get a chance. The Linux HoB needs updating anyway, so, this will be involved, but, we're going to want this. :)

Well, that could be a very useful function to add. It's a unique way of keeping root without having to make permanent changes. :)

Going to be in your neck of the woods tomorrow. Going to a viewing at 2PM and after we are having a late lunch/early dinner at Tuscan Kitchen in Salem, NH. How is it if you have been there?
