Pluto's Storm: Apps For Times Of Emergency

A minute woman in stature with the sweetest smile you could expect to see hanging around the pier of a busy metropolitan area.
She whom I had just run into after aggressively chasing her four legged thief of a canine along the shores of Manhattan.
To be honest what happened is I was walking along eating a funnel cake when I feel someone staring at me.
I turn towards the alley and find the most beautiful creature glaring from the shadows.
I did what you would do.
I tried to lure it closer with a piece of funnel cake.
Unfortunately, that’s not all he got away with.
As I leaned down, my Razr fell from my jacket sleeve pocket.
And yeah, just as you would guess, the little rascal ran up and snatched it up in his mouth.
After that all I saw was a tail....
An hour later I found myself in this location. Engaged in this conversation. With this woman that had the dog resting comfortably in her arms.
She happened to be holding a Razr Hd in her hands though. And just so happens, this news had just trickled down the wire mere moments before my communication device was so unceremoniously taken away.
And so we are now current and can resume.
“Yeah it is cool. With the Droid Razr Hd Utility, anything you could need to do to your Razr Hd is available in one package for the Windows OS. Thanks to Mattlgroff, you now have a program available to you that you can use to restore your Razr Hd back to stock 0.6.25 (ICS 4.0.4 Official ).”
…................
“Not only that, you can also use the software to root stock ICS on the Razr HD as well as install Voodoo’s Rootkeeper which will allow you to install an OTA update with no worries of losing your current root status. The only thing you cannot use it for at the moment is installing safestrap recovery. The reason for this is because SS3 is currently in beta and could be updated to numerous versions in a short amount of time. Therefore, Mattlgroff feels it best to leave the installing of an recovery to the user themselves. No matter which one you choose whether it be SS2, SS3, or bootstrap recovery.”
“So,uh......since I helped you out with that can I get my Droid back? Please?”
She looked at me with what looked like tears in her eyes.
What was the matter with her?
Suddenly she shrieked out, “Pluto.You!”
What?
“Pluto. You!” and with that she threw the dog at me and took off running down the docks. I caught the dog without issue and noticed how docile it suddenly seemed in my own arms.
Strange.
After removing my Razr from Pluto’s mouth I held it up and realized that it was a boy.
I sat Pluto on the ground and he laid at my feet.
I took a step and......he took a step.
Oh great.
AND THEN the call came just as I was expecting it to.
I still had remnants of funnel cake on my chin by the time I’d made it to the rendezvous point.
A pull-a-part on the outskirts of town, it was as good a place as any for an international data retrieval specialist to be meeting with the technological firepower behind an nation hoarding dynasty that doesn’t really exist.
This was a nice perk of the job though.......
At least me and my new found sidekick would be doing this thing in style.
This is what they wanted me to go place eyes on.
Ideally, you would be leaving the impact zone of a tropical storm of this magnitude but, on this day I found myself preparing to face one head on.
The first thing I would have to do is make sure I had all of the apps I would need for today’s mission.
The apps I decided to take on my date with Sandy and would recommend you to keep in your app drawer just in case are/ were:
Panic Alert Button
This very simple app allows you to quickly SOS alert four cell numbers with just a couple of clicks.
It sends a custom SOS message and an SMS message with your longitude and latitude, to show exactly where you are.
Great for personal safety, childrens safety, hill walkers,or lone females.
SeaStorm
Keep a watchful eye on tropical storm and hurricane activity with SeaStorm!
SeaStorm allows you to keep track of tropical storm and hurricane activity in the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific basins
Disaster Readiness
Topics cover everything you’d expect from a Disaster Readiness guide and includes sections on how to make your own Disaster Supplies Kit, how to re-charge your phone when there is no electricity, how to purify water and even where to get pills to protect yourself from nuclear radiation
Has Off-Line support!
Disaster Alert
Active Hazards on an interactive
map and in a list as they are occurring around the globe.
Additional hazard information can be viewed and shared.
Hurricane - American Red Cross
Be ready for severe weather with Hurricane by American Red Cross. Monitor conditions in your area or throughout the storm track, prepare your family and home, find help and let others know you are safe even if the power is out – a must have for anyone who lives in an area where a hurricane may strike or has loved ones who do.
This is just some of the apps I keep in my emergency folder. What are your must have disaster apps?

Another thing that I have noticed is that sometimes a rom flash will clutter up the gps.conf file and result in erratic gps positioning of your phone.
The app I used to fix this was .
select your region, select the closest server to you and wallah. Faster more accurate Gps locks.
Another app that helps me out alot now is . Some guy told me about this in chat but I forget who.
With this app you can change your phones radio to use OpenDNS or Google Servers which will result in much faster and stabler internet connections.
Any app that can increase communication chances in an emergency is always a plus.
