successfully downloaded the zip file and saved to ext. SDcard. I get the following error message when I apply the update file

"Finding update package....
Opening update package....
Verifying update package....
E:signature verification failed.....
Installation aborted...."

I unfreeze all bloatware apps with TB. But still getting the error msg. Anyone having the same problem or know how to fix this?

corrupt zip file.

on 12/24 i took the ota upgrade to jb it loaded without a problem. my phone (RAZR MAXX) was not rooted. I cannot use foxfii now, pdanet is working fine. I've read this forum and decided to talk to verizion. they claim this was an official upgrade and it is still under way, they can't or won't return my phone to ics

They can't... there is nothing they can do. There is no way back to ICS. Only way back would be a new phone without the update.

Only other thing you can do is await root for JB,

They shouldn't be calling this an official release, though. Because it definitely wasn't meant to be.

Whoever has updated - could you please confirm if any wifi-tether option (foxfi, etc.) works with the JB build? I am holding off until that's confirmed. Losing wifi tethering would not be a "present" to me. :)

Don't know if anyone answered this yet or not but it does work.
After running Matt's How to Restore Root (Only If You Used Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper!):
I got root back this was the first thing I tried WiFi-Tether works, I am running -- (3.2-beta2 ***BETA***)

I upgraded to jb with no issues at all. The only thing I have noticed is all of my pictures have been duplicated. So I all of my folders have doubles. Is there any way to fix this easily?

Thanks for mentioning WiFi-Tether. I couldn't get either FoxFi or PDAnet to work, but this works great. A speedtest.net test just showed 18.7 mbps down and 8.5 mbps up - which is better speed than my Clear hotspot gives me.

For those who are looking, this is what I'm using

heres what i have so far..... (i went ahead and updated/upgraded this morning)..... the default WIFI tether works great (assuming you are on the proper plan to use it) .....as of right now, 6 hours 39 min on battery down to 60% (not too bad considering i am not easy at all on my battery, and i am usually plugging in right about now) .... everything seems to be noticeably smoother.... bluetooth is working fine.... GPS (google navigation) seems to be working..... My 4G signal seems a bit weaker right now (usually full bars here at home, and it is only showing 4 of 5 bars) ....WIFI is right on where it usually is while i am at home.. speeds are about the same as they were prior to update.... i have not tried installing a bunch of apps yet, so i cant comment on the performance of certain apps yet.....so far the only oddity is my boot animation has no sound...

Now a repetitive note for those who have not updated yet.... if you are going to update, i recommend that you use Matts 1.82 utility (option 1) to completely go back to stock .211 and make sure you let it wipe data etc when finished....... it is pretty much the only way to ensure that you will have a fresh clean start... ANY little "thing" left over from previous ROMs etc can and probably will stop the install with errors....

enjoy JB goodness!!!

more to come.....

you'll lose root but might be worth a shot.

You have saved my phone, which I'm grateful for. Actually, my phone is running smooth as butter, although I did loose root. Then again, that's a small price to pay for my stupidity. Thanks again Matt, hopefully we'll have root soon and recovery close behind.

Can I just wipe/flash from Motorola Recovery or do I have to use Matt's utility to get rid of safestrap and go back to default?

you should use the utility (option 1) to fully "nuke and repave"

I may get bashed or scolded for this comment but....... I love it when someone can admit their own mistakes... and are willing to live peacefully with the results of that mistake... :) thank you that is very refreshing
