Safestrap Restore Help?

maxx hd safestrap restore troubleshooting

Best Answer BIrONIC , 21 April 2013 - 01:07 PM

Have you tried a different SD card? That's really odd that it keeps unmounting.

Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

Yep. That's what my 'SD card unexpectedly removed' thread is about.

Anyway, after taking the card out, putting it into my computer, running check disk on it, copying the Safestrap old backup files to it, putting it back into the phone, and trying again, I finally got it done. Whew!

Old Safestrap backup has been restored, and now I'm happily back to where I was before the original Maxx HD got replaced. Yay!  :)

Thanks a lot for your help and advice in this process, guys.
I owe you.

I just tried restoring the backup from just after rooting this replacement (which I was able to restore earlier today), but it got stuck in the start-up animation too.

I can try to do the ROM slot thing....

So, for that, do I just go into 'Boot Options' and choose one, and then go do the restore to that ROM slot?

Um....I guess I'm missing something. I don't see any way to 'create' a ROM slot. I simply see the button named 'Boot Options', and when I go in there, I see a number of ROM slots that I can choose from.

How long did it stick on the boot animation

I'm not sure how long it would have stayed there, but it sat there for a couple minutes, and I just assumed it's bonked.
Do you think it may actually have been OK, and just needed to do something for a longer period for the first boot and that maybe I should have waited for it longer?

Nope. It's not there. There is nothing that gives me the option to 'Create' a ROM slot.
The only thing that I see is 'Boot Options', and then there are multiple ROM slots in there to choose from.

Here are a couple photos of the items that I see on the screen in Safestrap...

This is the main screen...

Even if I get this thing taken care of via SS, that would be interesting to see if there's another tool that could restore the old backup.

If you click on a ROM slot then you will. Create it

Doh! :P
I see. Thanks.

What if it won't?
If I can get it to boot up all the way on one of the ROM slots, will I be able to unlock the bootloader from there, or not?

If it doesn't boot I think you'll have to run a utility to fix it

OK....well, I can't even create a ROM slot.
When I try it (I see how it works now, thanks to you), the command line behind the scenes just says,
"Error creating system partition"
and then the screen where I have the choices of the diffeent ROM slots goes back to the same as before....as if nothing happened.

So, what utility can I use to get out of this situation?

OK, the Utility (1.10) did the trick, and I'm now back in. It's all fresh on 4.0.4, and I have to start over again, but at least it's not like the phone is an actual brick.....just a temp one :)

So now, I will go get rooted, and put OTA Rootkeeper and Safestrap back on.

I will want to try restoring the backup that I made with Safestrap on the old one, but I guess I should unlock first, eh?

Did you take the OTA? You said the old backup was on 4.1.1, and the replacement was 4.04, is that correct?
