Hello to all. Not all that new with Motorola phones but yet not a brain by any means. Looking forward to learning a few more thing perhaps just enough to stay out of trouble with the ones I have now.

Please remember not a brain yet not totally new to this kinda stuff.

Sup Everyone around this world of web.  I'm a somewhat experienced android user and proficient in windows os and an automotive expert.  I'm want to update my Atrix HD to a better os version, though I have messed with other android devices with roms and all.  First android dev I have was Huawei Ascent 1 and later a Mercury.

Hello,

Just saying hi to my new neighborhood.

Upgraded to a RAZR M last weekend. Rooted and Unlocked.

Happily running plain CM 10.3.1.

New to Droids, but not new to Motorola's or rooting.

Had a rooted Thunderbolt for almost two years and I'm also running a rooted Nook HD+ also with plain CM 10.3.1

Having a great time.

Peace

~R

Hey guys... I started with rooting the Droid 1, went to the Droid 4 and I needed a replacement... The replacement Droid 4 that showed up had a non-working headset jack. Don't they test those things before they send them out? Anyways, the second replacement that showed up was a Droid Razr M... I'm not even familiar with this thing. I really like the fold-out keyboard, but I'm dealing with the screen keyboard so far... I guess. I got it rooted - just for taking screenshots and tethering mostly... I used motochopper.

Welcome to DroidRzr ! Exchanged a D4 for an M? That seems like an odd swap for them.  I want to say though, IF you were successful in rooting with the original motochopper, that means you are on a previous firmware version .  You should really consider unlocking it with Motopocalypse.  If you update to the current version, you will lose that ability.  An unlocked bootloader will ensure that if you lose root, you will maintain the ability to reroot - not to mention the added benefit of flashing roms and kernels.  Most of the roms out there are based on an unlocked device and very few will work on the locked alternative safestrap.

In any case, enjoy, have fun and don't hesitate to ask a question if you need help and can't find the answer (there are answers to just about every situation on here, just have to read :) )

Howdy y'all!  I've seen a familiar name or two here, the one that stands out is JohnGalt.  Some of you may recognise me as well.

Anyways, after finding that someone found an exploit to unlock the bootloader for the consumer model of XT907 most of my searches for custom roms and kernels led me here.

Now that I went ahead and bought one on eBay, I decided I had better sign up, read up, ask up, learn up and then hopefully after a while I will pay it forward as I have with the other devices . . . .

Hello All,

I am a complete novice to ... well ... to everything that has to do with this forum/site ...

I am having a hard time finding out where I can get some help with rooting my bionic ...

I've already tried to root it twice (with no luck) using the ubuntu boot disk and [ROOT] Motoshare 2: Old Bug, New Exploit -

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

... which is located on this site.

... the "rooting process" went very smooth all the way through (twice) ... but, root checker says that I have no root access and superuser says that I need binary updates ... but, then gives an error when I try and update them ... ????

Questions:

1. Where can I go to get HELP/answers to my issues regarding rooting my droid ...

2. What info. do you need from me to help you diagnose???

Thank You

Well, if your Bionic is on Jelly Bean you got the correct method. As with anything on these forums , be sure to read the entire thread before starting any process. Chances are someone had had your same issue so when you get to the issue you know either what to do or where to look. There is another script to perform the same task that you tried here-

You might give that one a shot.

Well, Livinginkaos ...

Thanks for your interest.

Yes, I am running Jelly Bean 4.1.2, by the way.

... and "yes" ... I have tried to use the "Easy Root for Bionic running stock Jelly Bean" -

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

... but, I can't seem to get VirtualBox to work with the .ova file on my Mac ... (nothing works!!!! ... previous VirtualBox versions don't work either)

... Believe me I have scowered this/your site!!! (and many others) ... So, don't worry that I'm wasting your time without warrant ... I had already exhausted all other avenues (with no real help) before I even attempted to get on this forum and ask for your help.

And, unless there's more help/ideas that you can give me (and/or refer me to somewhere else) , I guess I've also exhausted this option too ...

thanks for your help - much appreciated!

Hello. New to this site. I have just rooted my RazrM using this site and motochopper 1.3. it works like a charm. Now, what can I do with the root? Need to do more research. Tether is what I was looking for, so I think I can do that now. Can't install new OS like Clockwork, unless I use another program 1st, because not unlocked and phone is now unlockable. Oh well. This Android stuff really is addicting. lol..

Thank you for making this site.
